Super Firefighters Protective Equipment comparable to Iron Man

Chen Jiazhen, a Chinese industrial designer who studied in Australia, has created an innovative set of super firefighter protective gear that integrates exoskeleton technology to enhance the strength and capabilities of firefighters, offering them greater protection during disaster relief operations.

This advanced exoskeleton system is designed to be worn over the firefighters' standard uniform, weighing 23 kilograms and standing 160 centimeters tall. It can independently support a load of up to 91 kilograms. Once equipped, the weight of the gear is transferred through the exoskeleton’s "shoes" to the ground, significantly reducing the physical burden on firefighters during intense operations.

The exoskeleton design is versatile and can carry a range of essential disaster relief equipment. Based on different rescue scenarios, it comes in two versions: the “Firefield Pioneer” model and the “First Rescue” model. The “Firefield Pioneer” features a pulsating water gun and an oxygen cylinder, enabling firefighters to operate independently for up to two hours when entering a fire zone first. The “First Rescue” model includes portable medical kits and strong needle-nose pliers, allowing rescuers to locate survivors trapped under collapsed structures. According to Chen Jiazhen, this “super energy firefighting equipment” aims to provide better protection for high-altitude firefighters and boost their rescue efficiency. In aerial rescue missions, when conditions at the top of a skyscraper exceed the reach of ladders or high-pressure water guns, firefighters must enter the burning building directly.

The exoskeleton greatly enhances a firefighter's individual combat capability. Traditionally, firefighters carry more than ten pieces of equipment, including flashlights, hoses, and ropes. However, with the exoskeleton “combat suit,” the weight of these items is distributed more efficiently, making it easier for firefighters to move and perform.

Equipped with an internal computer, the exoskeleton assists in joint movements, enabling firefighters to react quickly and flexibly during emergencies. The “combat suit” also includes an energy supply system in the ankle joints, providing a stable lower body structure that acts as a load-bearing support for the firefighter.

The left forearm of the exoskeleton “combat suit” is fitted with a powerful nozzle that can be connected to a hose instantly. The suit supports the forearm, offering additional strength and stability, which helps firefighters manage high-pressure water guns more effectively.

In non-rescue situations, the exoskeleton “combat suit” can be stored upright in a fire truck without taking up much space. This allows firefighters to quickly put it on in case of an emergency, ensuring rapid response times.
