Chen Jiazhen, a Chinese industrial designer who studied in Australia, has developed an innovative line of super firefighter protective gear that integrates exoskeleton technology to enhance the strength and capabilities of firefighters. This advanced equipment is designed to provide greater protection and support during disaster relief operations.
The exoskeleton system can be worn directly over a firefighter's uniform, weighing 23 kilograms and standing 160 centimeters tall. It is capable of independently supporting up to 91 kilograms of load. Once equipped, the weight of the gear is transferred through the exoskeleton's "shoes" to the ground, significantly reducing the physical strain on firefighters and allowing them to move more efficiently in hazardous environments.
This cutting-edge exoskeleton design is versatile and can carry a range of essential disaster relief tools. Depending on the mission, it comes in two versions: the “Firefield Pioneer†model and the “First Rescue†model. The “Firefield Pioneer†features a pulsating water gun and an oxygen cylinder, enabling firefighters to operate independently for up to two hours when entering burning buildings first. The “First Rescue†version includes portable medical kits and strong needle-nose pliers, helping rescuers locate survivors trapped under collapsed structures.
According to Chen Jiazhen, the “super energy firefighting equipment†is designed to better protect firefighters working at high altitudes and improve their overall rescue efficiency. In aerial rescue scenarios, when the situation becomes too dangerous for ladders or high-pressure water guns, firefighters often have to enter the building directly. The exoskeleton helps reduce the burden of carrying multiple pieces of equipment, such as flashlights, water hoses, and ropes, making their tasks more manageable and safer.
The exoskeleton is equipped with an internal computer that assists in joint movement, enabling firefighters to react quickly and flexibly during emergencies. The suit also includes an energy supply system in the ankle joints, providing a stable base that supports the firefighter’s lower body and enhances mobility.
The left forearm of the exoskeleton is fitted with a powerful gun head that can be connected to a hose instantly. The suit provides support to the forearm, offering increased strength and stability, which allows firefighters to handle high-pressure water guns more effectively during operations.
In non-emergency situations, the exoskeleton “combat suit†can be stored upright in a fire truck without taking up much space. This ensures that firefighters can quickly gear up and respond to emergencies when needed.
