Protective clothing in the car paint room

Using an automotive paint booth can significantly enhance the quality of paint finishes during repair work. This is not only due to the booth's ability to evenly heat and quickly dry the paint according to the operator’s settings, but also because it acts as a barrier against external pollutants like dust. By preventing these contaminants from entering the workspace, the need for time-consuming polishing and other post-painting processes is reduced. However, after some vehicles are painted in the booth, small imperfections such as pockmarks may appear on the surface. Upon closer inspection, you might notice that tiny dust particles have become embedded in the paint, indicating that the air inside the booth contains a high level of particulate matter.

To maintain clean air within the paint booth, most models are equipped with filtration systems, such as filter cotton, which help remove dust from the incoming air. Additionally, the ventilation system ensures proper airflow, maintaining a consistent and clean environment inside the booth. In many cases, paint contamination stems from human error—such as not properly cleaning the vehicle before painting, the painter not wearing appropriate protective clothing, or the booth itself being unclean.

(1) The primary source of pollution in the paint booth comes from the air entering the room. When the booth is not in use, the door should always be closed to prevent dust and debris from entering. Unfortunately, in many workshops, sanding operations are often conducted near the paint booth. During this process, a large amount of dust is generated, which can easily enter the booth through air movement. If dustless dry grinding techniques are used, the situation improves significantly. However, manual polishing tends to create more severe contamination. Therefore, Lonstar Machinery advises our customers to conduct putty sanding in areas that are well away from the paint booth to minimize risks.

(2) While the paint booth is operating, the ventilation fan draws in outside air, filters it through the roof-mounted filter cotton, and then directs it downward across the surface of the vehicle. At the same time, the air is drawn from the floor of the booth, creating a downward airflow that prevents any remaining dust from floating around. This efficient system helps keep the air inside the booth clean. To ensure optimal performance, the roof filter and floor absorbent pads should be replaced regularly.
