**Abstract:**
Tianyu Street Town serves as the gateway for the "Zhangzhuyu" development initiative in Shuyang County, and it is also considered the backyard of the "Changjiujing" region. This town is home to Jiangxi's only provincial-level diamond tool industry base. Located in the north-central part of Shuyang County, it lies within the "Changjiujing" Golden Triangle Fudi area. As a central town and county sub-center in northern Fuyang, Tianyu Street is also recognized as a provincial demonstration new town. It has long been known for its strategic position as the bridgehead of Zhangzhuyu and the back garden of Changjiujing, with the diamond tool industry being a key economic pillar.
To explore the story behind its rapid growth, on November 30th, the interview team from the World Wide Web's Jiangxi Channel visited Tianyu Street Town, located in Shangrao City, Shuyang County. They conducted an interview with Mayor Yang Jie, who shared insights into the town’s development and future plans.
**Reporter:** Mayor Yang, hello! It's a pleasure to have you here. Could you briefly introduce the current situation and development of Tianyu Street Town?
**Yang Jie:** Of course. Tianyu Street Town is situated on the eastern bank of Poyang Lake and is a core area of the Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone. The town covers an area of 236 square kilometers and administers 31 village committees, one forest farm, 204 natural villages, and a population of around 80,000 people. We adhere to the scientific development concept and actively integrate into the construction of the Poyang Lake eco-economic zone. Over the past six years, we have consistently ranked among the top in the county’s comprehensive performance evaluation. Our total output value reached 650 million yuan, local fiscal revenue was 42 million yuan, per capita net income was 5,600 yuan, industrial sales revenue hit 1.05 billion yuan, and export earnings amounted to 22 million U.S. dollars.
**Reporter:** In recent years, Tianyu Street Town has established a “enterprise + base + farmer†model, supported by a modern agricultural science and technology demonstration park, and has begun developing a green ecological agriculture structure. Could you tell us more about the town’s characteristic agricultural industries and their progress in agricultural industrialization?
**Yang Jie:** Agriculture is the foundation of township development. To boost farmers' incomes and improve agricultural productivity, we focus on modern and efficient agriculture, such as environmentally friendly, safe, and pollution-free green agriculture. Recently, we've concentrated on supporting leading enterprises, building bases, developing unique features, and creating brands. We’ve planned a 40-square-kilometer Modern Agricultural Science and Technology Demonstration Park, introduced a 10,000-mu Chinese herbal medicine planting base, a 10,000-mu paulownia seedling base, a 10,000-mu pollution-free rice base, and a 3,000-mu forest fruit base. We’re also promoting a large-scale pig farming project by Xinxing Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Group. Currently, the town has a provincial famous trademark, two “green food†certifications, and two registered agricultural product trademarks, forming a solid foundation for green ecological agriculture.
**Reporter:** Tianyu Street Town is not only a leader in agricultural industrialization but also a regional central town and a strong industrial hub. It has won several prestigious titles, including “National Comprehensive Development Demonstration Town,†“Top 100 Economic Towns,†and “The Best Investment Town in the First Investment Environment.†What efforts have contributed to these achievements?
**Yang Jie:** While agriculture is essential for stability, focusing solely on it without developing industry would hinder future progress. I believe agriculture and industry should support each other. By vigorously developing industry, we can support agriculture, and agricultural products can supply raw materials for industry. We plan to build a 5-square-kilometer Industrial Base in Tianyu Street, of which 2 square kilometers are already completed. So far, 55 enterprises have been introduced, and two environmentally-friendly industries—diamond tools and shoes—have taken shape. This year, the Tianyu Street Industrial Base was awarded the title of Jiangxi Provincial Diamond Tool Characteristic Industrial Base, the only one in the province. More than 20 diamond tool companies have settled in, with 8 already operational, 6 under construction, and 6 in the planning stage. We aim to reach 50 diamond enterprises and an output value of 4 billion yuan within 3–5 years, making Tianyu Street the country’s hometown of diamond tools.
