At present, the promotion and application of solar cookers in China are concentrated in the western solar-rich regions of Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia, Tibet, Sichuan, and Yunnan, which are inseparable from the support of the state and local governments. By the end of 2006, the Ministry of Agriculture had completed the solar thermal project with an investment of 8.7 million yuan in two Tibetan autonomous prefectures in Ganzi, Sichuan Province and Yushu, Qinghai Province. A total of 22,800 herdsmen in 372 villages of 88 townships (towns) in 11 counties of the two counties installed a solar cooker to achieve one household and one stove, which can save labor costs of 13.68 million yuan for the herdsmen. In 2008, the Ministry of Agriculture continued to implement solar thermal projects in Tibetan areas in four provinces such as Qinghai and in the arid regions of central Ningxia. To this end, the Ministry of Agriculture has arranged a central investment of 77.41 million yuan in 64 counties in Qinghai Guoluo, Hainan, Huangnan, Sichuan Ganzi, Aba Prefecture, Gansu Gannan, Yunnan Diqing and other arid areas in central Ningxia. 200,000 farmers and herdsmen installed 198235 solar cookers.
