Main classification of fluorescent lamps

The current common fluorescent lamps are:

(1) Straight tubular fluorescent lamps. This fluorescent lamp is a double-ended fluorescent lamp. Common nominal powers are 4W, 6W, 8W, 12W, 15W, 20W, 30W, 36W, 40W, 65W, 80W, 85W and 125W. The pipe diameter is T5, T8, T10, T12. The lamp head uses G5 and G13. At present, T5 and T8 are more used. T5 color rendering index>30, good color rendering, ideal lighting effects for colorful items and environments, low light decay, long life, average life expectancy of 10,000 hours. It is suitable for use in colorful occasions such as clothing, department stores, supermarkets, food, fruits, pictures, display windows, etc. T8 color, brightness, energy saving, and longevity are better, suitable for hotels, offices, shops, hospitals, libraries, and homes where color is simple but high brightness is required.

In order to facilitate installation, reduce cost and safety, many ballasts for straight tube fluorescent lamps are mounted in brackets to form self-ballasted fluorescent lamps.

(2) Color straight tube type fluorescent lamps. Common nominal power is 20W, 30W, 40W. The pipe diameter is T4, T5, T8. G5, G13 for the lamp head. Color fluorescent lamps have low luminous flux and are suitable for decoration and color display in shop windows, advertisements or the like. (3) Circular fluorescent lamps. In addition to the shape, the circular fluorescent lamp does not differ much from the straight tubular fluorescent lamp. Common nominal power is 22W, 32W, 40W. The lamp head uses G10q. Mainly for ceiling lamps, chandeliers, etc. as a supporting light source for home, shopping malls and other lighting.

(4) Single-ended compact energy-saving fluorescent lamps. The fluorescent tube, the ballast and the lamp head are closely integrated (the ballast is placed in the lamp cap), and they cannot be disassembled except for the destructive blow, so it is called a "compact" fluorescent lamp. Since there is no need to add a ballast and the drive circuit is also in the ballast, the fluorescent lamp is also a self-ballasted fluorescent lamp and an internal starting fluorescent lamp. The entire lamp is directly connected to the power supply network through the lamp head such as E27, which can easily replace the incandescent lamp directly.

Most of these fluorescent lamps use a rare earth element trichromatic phosphor, and thus have an energy saving function. The table below shows a comparison of energy-saving fluorescent lamps with incandescent lamps of substantially the same luminous flux.
