Russia exported 32 million carats of diamonds last year. The Russian Ministry of Finance revealed in March this year that Russia exported more than 32 million carats of unprocessed diamonds worth $3.81 billion last year, an increase of 37% from the previous year. India, Belgium, and Israel are the main buyers of these diamonds. The three major diamond importers, Belgium imported 18.8 million carats ($2.5 billion) last year, India imported 5.9 million carats (more than $590 million), and Israel imported 3.5 million carats ($384 million). The Russian Ministry of Commerce said that Russia's diamond production in 2011 reached 35.14 million carats.
