Maintenance and maintenance of air conditioning fans

Using air conditioning fans can bring a lot of comfort, especially during hot summer days. However, to get the most out of your fan and ensure it lasts longer, it's important to use, store, and clean it properly. Here are some practical tips to help you make the most of your air conditioning fan:

■ When placing an air conditioning fan horizontally, always make sure it is level and not tilted. Before turning it on, double-check that the power supply matches the specifications listed on the fan’s nameplate.

■ If your fan is frequently used with water or left unused for long periods, it’s essential to fill the water tank before each use. Check the water level using the marked indicator, and never overfill. Always unplug the device before adding water to avoid damaging internal components. Fill the tank until the water reaches near the “maximum” mark. Once filled, close the lid and start the cooling function. Monitor the water level regularly—if it drops near the “minimum” mark, add more water immediately to maintain optimal performance.

â–  Some models come with ice crystals. To maximize cooling, keep one in the freezer overnight and place it in the water tank the next day. This will enhance the cooling effect significantly.

■ For better humidification, add water to the tank first. After running the fan for 1-3 minutes, the air temperature will drop closer to room temperature, giving you the best cooling effect. If possible, use cold or ice-cold water for even greater efficiency. You can also add a few drops of essential oils to the water for a refreshing and aromatic breeze. It’s a great way to stay cool and feel refreshed on a hot summer day.

■ Most air conditioning fans have a swing function that allows the airflow to move left and right. To activate this, press the “wind direction” button once until the “swinging wind” light turns on. The fan will then automatically oscillate up to 120 degrees. If you prefer a direct airflow, press the button again to switch to “directional wind,” which stops the swinging motion. You can also adjust the vertical angle manually by moving the air guide to direct the airflow upward or downward, depending on your preference.

■ For long-term storage, it’s important to empty the water tank completely and let the fan run at normal temperature for a while to dry out the internal parts, especially the filter. Once dry, wrap the fan in a plastic bag for safe storage.

■ Regular cleaning is crucial to keep your fan working efficiently. Clean it every two weeks by following these steps: (1) Unplug the unit. (2) Remove the back cover by loosening the screws. (3) Disconnect the wiring and take out the filter and back cover together. (4) Mix a mild detergent with water. (5) Soak the filter and cover in the solution for 10–15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Do not submerge the motor or wash it directly with water. (6) Reinstall the filter and cover once everything is dry.
