When we use lathes to machine parts, we often need to install and disassemble different turning tools. To change the different turning tools on the lathe tool holder, it is necessary to adjust the thickness of the pad blade placed under the turning tool so that the turning edge of the turning tool is equal to the center of rotation of the workpiece during the working process. Every time the center of the turning tool is high, it must be turned on, shake the lathe saddle, repeatedly install and disassemble the turning tool, and perform it several times, which is laborious and time consuming. 1. Working principle and working process

After repeated trials, we designed a center high tool setting instrument for use outside the lathe, as shown in the drawing. The working principle of the center high tool setting instrument is to mount the rib behind the instrument base 1 on the tool holder of the lathe, and shake the lathe bed to be close to the rotating workpiece. The moving ruler 5 and the measuring rod 6 are moved up and down so that the tip of the measuring rod 6 aligns with the center of rotation of the workpiece. Then, the screw 4 is tightened, the height of the moving ruler 5 is fixed, and the nut 7 is tightened to fix the rotation of the measuring rod 6. Then shake out the lathe bed and remove the center high tool setting tool. The previous step was to obtain the center height of the tool relative to the lathe by means of a tool seter mounted on the lathe. Next, remove the tool set and place it in a suitable flat position. Loosen the nut 7, rotate the measuring rod 6 into the base 1, put the pad blade and the turning tool on the base 1, press the turning tool with the eccentric pressing rod 2, and add the pad blade to make the machining tool tip of the turning tool The tips of the measuring rods 6 are at the same height. After the center high tool setting tool obtains the rotation center height of the lathe workpiece in the first step, the screw 4 is locked, and there are scribe lines on the moving ruler 5 and the base rule 8, and the height value can be obtained, so that the screw 4 is used during use. Loosen, the moving ruler 5 moves up and down, and the center height of the lathe can be found according to the scale value, instead of having to put the instrument on the lathe and then go to the center height.

2. Structure and function of main components

In the structural design of the center high tool setting tool, we fixed the base rule 8 to the base 1 by means of screws 9. The lower surface of the rib behind the base should be at the same plane height as the upper surface of the turning tool placed in the base. When the tool is used, the turning tool is placed on the clamping surface of the lathe tool holder. At the same time, holes of different heights and different positions are opened on the base, so that when the turning tools of different sizes and shapes are matched, the eccentric pressing rods can use different positions to press the turning tools. The moving ruler is designed to slide on the base ruler so that the measuring rod can be driven to different height positions. There are scribe lines on the moving ruler and the base ruler, and the height values ​​at different positions can be read during use. The measuring rod is placed on the moving ruler and can be rotated on the moving ruler to align the center of rotation of the workpiece during use. At the same time, the moving ruler has a thread, and the nut 7 is used to lock the measuring rod so that it cannot rotate; the side of the moving ruler has a threaded hole, and after the center height of the lathe is obtained in use, the moving ruler is locked with the screw 4. Make it fixed on the base rule.

3. Conclusion

When the center high tool setting instrument is used, it only needs to be installed on the lathe once to obtain the center height of the lathe loading tool. When using different turning tools in the future work, as long as it is first tested on this tool setting instrument, The thickness of the pad blade required to mount the turning tool is known, which is simple and convenient. The center height gauge can also measure specific values ​​of high or low tool, not only for ordinary lathes, but also for CNC lathes.
