China's largest diameter full-section hard rock roadheader completed in Chengdu

Two 10.23m full-section hard rock roadheaders (TBM) were completed on the 20th in Chengdu CSR Tunnel Equipment Co., Ltd. The downline of these two roadheaders has rewritten the history of China’s long-term dependence on imports.
The two TBMs will be dedicated to the excavation of two 28.3 km long tunnels around the West Qinling of Lanzhou-Lanzhou Railway. The tunneling machine has a diameter of 10.23 meters, each weighing 1500 tons and a total length of 172 meters. It is specially developed for the geological characteristics of high stress, high water pressure, high ground temperature and easy rock burst in the large tunnel of the West Qinling.
According to the person in charge of Chengdu CSR Tunnel Equipment Co., Ltd., the tunnel boring machine is a heavy-duty construction machinery with world-class level and high technical content. It integrates various high-tech technologies such as hydraulic, electromechanical control, laser guidance and control, and computer. Widely used in tunnel construction and urban subway construction, it has become a typical product representing a country's heavy equipment manufacturing level.
At present, China's railway construction has entered a period of rapid development, especially in the context of the increasing proportion of railway tunnels and the length of the tunnels. The tunnel boring machine has the characteristics of safety, high quality and high efficiency, and is suitable for Chinese railways. The need for rapid development will effectively replace the traditional tunnel construction method and represent the development direction of railway tunnel construction.
At present, Chengdu CSR has initially formed an annual capacity of 15 tunnel boring machines.
