The reporter learned from the Heilongjiang Department of Science and Technology yesterday that the province's project titled "Development of High-Purity Graphite Materials and Their Typical Applications" has been selected for the National Science and Technology Support Program. The initiative is set to launch this year, marking a significant step forward in the region’s graphite industry. Industry experts believe the project will directly contribute to technological upgrades and product innovation among local graphite companies.
According to forecasts from the Heilongjiang Department of Science and Technology, by 2015, the total output value of the province’s graphite industry is expected to reach 25 billion yuan, with deep-processing products accounting for 60% of that figure—approximately 15 billion yuan. This reflects a growing focus on enhancing the value of graphite through advanced processing techniques.
The project, which is estimated to cost 150 million yuan, will be partially funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology (50 million yuan), the provincial government (50 million yuan), and enterprises (50 million yuan). It will focus on five key research areas, including the green production of flake graphite materials and their application demonstration, as well as high-purity purification technology. Once launched, the project is expected to establish 11 industrial application demonstration lines, further advancing the commercialization of high-quality graphite products.
In 2012, the total output value of the graphite industry in Heilongjiang reached 2 billion yuan, representing a 34% increase compared to the previous year. The value of deep-processing products rose to 780 million yuan, making up 39% of the total output—a 272% growth over the previous year. This highlights the rapid development of the sector.
Heilongjiang holds the largest graphite reserves in China, accounting for about 45% of the world’s total. However, the region currently focuses mainly on producing graphite powder, lacking high-tech and high-value products. To address this, the Jixi Science and Technology Bureau, along with the Heilongjiang Graphite Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, collaborated with leading graphite enterprises and domestic universities and research institutions. They partnered with Aoyu Graphite Group Co., Ltd., the lead unit of the graphite alliance, to jointly apply for the national science and technology support program.
Currently, 18 graphite deep-processing projects are under construction in Heilongjiang, with a total investment of 8.49 billion yuan. The scope of deep processing is expanding into advanced products such as expandable graphite, flexible graphite, lithium battery anode materials, and sealing materials, as well as diamond-related applications. Representatives from China Baoan Company have expressed optimism about the future of graphene technology, stating that the company plans to continue investing in human and financial resources. They aim to achieve new technological breakthroughs and promote the application and market development of these innovative materials.
Wear Resistant Composite Pipe
Co-extrusion polyolefin elastomers (POE) abrasion resistant inner layer plastic composite pipes is characterised by taking co-extrusion thermoplastic polyolefin elastomers as the abrasion resistant inner layer, using a combination of steel wires (or glass fiber) reinforcements and high-density polyethylene. In addition to good workability and physical and mechanical properties as HDPE pipes, such pipes have good wear resisting performance. Co-extrusion abrasion resistant composite pipeline is a kind of anti-abrasion pipe with high cost-effective performance.
