The National Standard for Ceramic Tiles for Squares is about to be issued soon

The National Standard for Ceramic Tiles for Squares (GB/T23458-2009) will be formally implemented on January 1, 2010. Square tiles are a kind of public places that are particularly suitable for use in squares, pedestrian streets, garden communities, etc. More prominent products. Compared to the booming production and sales, new products, polished tiles, glazed tiles, and antique tiles, square tiles can now be regarded as partial and cold products. However, how many people know that the rise of square tiles is still earlier than porcelain polished tiles and antique tiles. It has been popular in China for nearly 20 years. It was first introduced by Japan, and Japan’s Leroy Company had set up a factory in Foshan in the early years to produce square tiles, which were all sold back to Japan. In the 1990s, China’s urbanization entered a period of rapid development, and outdoor public works such as urban open spaces, pedestrian roads, and social gardens were in great demand for square tiles. Because of the low threshold of production equipment and technology of square tiles, many small and medium-sized ceramic enterprises have been working on the square brick project, and some external wall brick factories have also switched production to join in. At the time of the most beautiful scenery, there were more than 20 plaza brick production companies in the country. Although the production scale of the company was not large at that time, most of them had only one or two lines in production. The output was low, the technology was backward and the cost was high, but the sales profit was not low. The brand has also been famous for a while.

The plaza tiles belong to the architectural ceramic wall tiles. Although similar to the current production process of mass production of tiles, but due to the natural stone particles added to the raw material formula, the ingredients of the raw materials, the gradation of the granules, the thickness ratio of the products and the burning The curves are different from other ceramic tiles and the manufacturing process is unique. Therefore, the GB/T4100.1 to 4100.5-1999 national standards and the current GB/T4100-2006 ceramic tile national standards that have been implemented in the past cannot meet the technical requirements of square ceramic tiles. For a long time, all production companies can only set their own corporate standards for their own governance, technical indicators are uneven, and products are incomplete. The result is that the gods cross the sea and show their supernatural powers. They have been in a vicious competition of chaos and disorder. The severe lagging of standards restricts the standardization of production and sales, resulting in the lack of a unified and authoritative product standard as support for product delivery and construction acceptance. The unequal competitive environment has accelerated the reshuffle and elimination of the square brick enterprises, and at the same time it has constantly called for the introduction of national standards as soon as possible.

The long-awaited national standards of the square brick production enterprises will finally be implemented on January 1 next year. This is obviously a rare, long-lasting sunshine. However, late is better than nothing. I want to cheer for it, because it indicates that the square brick with a market share of nearly 100 million square meters of the national building materials market will end the situation of disorderly competition, and an era in which “law” is available has arrived. I believe that as China's urbanization process accelerates and the level of urban construction increases, it will soon usher in a new spring of development as the preferred product for replacing high-grade stone and low-grade cement bricks in public places.

Standards are very important for the healthy and orderly development of a product and even the entire industry. Due to the acceleration of scientific and technological progress and the improvement of the ability to innovate, the relative lag in product standards is a normal and common phenomenon. In many cases, there are standards after the first product. However, I think that it is entirely possible and necessary to go ahead with the standardization of ceramic tile thinning.

In recent years, governments at all levels have been vigorously advocating energy-saving and emission-reduction. Many people of insight have pointed out that the thinning of ceramic tiles is one of the most effective measures in the ceramic industry. However, ceramic companies have the habit of hindering market consumption and have not seen any movement. The ultra-thin porcelain plate developed by Mona Lisa is a revolutionary product compared to traditional ceramic tiles. It subverts the tradition and may represent the future direction of ceramic tile consumption. However, it is still a long way from entering the millions of households and large and small projects. Very rugged road to go. Because, the market consumption habits that have been formed for 20 to 30 years cannot be controlled by one or two manufacturers alone and can be changed or changed in three years. Therefore, I think that the greatest potential for energy saving and emission reduction in the architectural ceramics industry is also the most feasible and most realistic. It is to implement "thinning down" and "reduction of load" in the ceramic bricks with the largest production volume (the output of domestic tile and floor tiles reaches 6 billion square meters). This does not require a major investment in the enterprise and a large investment, as long as the existing production equipment, process technology and make appropriate adjustments can be achieved. If the average national tile is reduced by 5% to 8%, it will be a great achievement for the benefit of future generations. If we are engaged in the formulation of product standards related departments, experts to use your wisdom, starting from the ceramic tile national standards, develop the appropriate technical standards, so that standards first, guide enterprises and consumers will be able to do more with less, water will be achieved, immediate results. I believe that the idea of thinning ceramic tiles will soon be realized and standards will be set.
