When I recently talked to my friends in the plate-making output center, I talked about something that I usually do. Some problems that could have been solved simply during the production process have caused bizarre mistakes in the filming process. In fact, as long as our production staff have some understanding of the output printing process, we can avoid it completely. Especially in the near future, some of our printing companies will put on CTP equipment and produce their own PS version. It is even more important to understand some prepress processes. .
For example, when we get a client file, some problems occurred in the production process. When an output center is opened, it is sent to the RIP and there is a missing word in the file. However, the output personnel cannot check the problem. In the end, a highly skilled production staff, after careful inspection, found that several "implicit spaces" in the document were not deleted. After deleting the space, there is no such issue after the film is released. This problem, which was very simple for the production, caused the output center to suffer badly, and it made us wait for the people of the film to be anxious. We also delayed the time and almost missed the printing date. I think if there is a problem with the document, the one that suffered the most is designing it here. These delays are all small things, but if there are really some mistakes, they will not be discovered until the final printouts come out. There are many other similar simple problems...
I have collected some precautions for making in various kinds of software and hope to help everyone.
First, general considerations
1. Mac users should not use system fonts such as Beijing, Song, FangSong, Hei, and Kai. If they are used, they cannot be output or output as garbled characters.
2. Pictures Do not make RGB pictures, for example, use the output incorrectly (may be grayscale or other non-customer desired color).
3. If the customer uses more English fonts, especially for some of the less frequently used fonts, please copy the PS version into the disc for easy output.
4. There is a problem with the white color of the software itself. It is easy to turn black when outputting, and you should set a new white color when using it.
5. Objects that are completely out of the page can't be output. You can place graphics, lines, or file blocks on the page a little bit.
Second, Illustrator
1. The graphics produced by Illustrator itself should be adjusted to 2400 points in the "Properties" dialog box. Otherwise, the graphics are prone to polygons (that is, they are not sufficiently delicate and angular).
2. If gradients are used in Illustrator, select the following options:
Chinese version: "File" - "Document Settings" - "Compatible Gradient and Gradient Network Printing"
English version: "File" - "Document" - "Compatible Gradient and Gradient Mesh Printing"
3. The Illustrator output is an EPS file, black text, and a graphic with a black imprint.
4. Illustrator has the function of converting RGB images to CMYK, but the color effects are extremely poor and cannot be used.
5. There is transparency Transparency option in Illustrator9, where 'print/expect' should be set to the highest when outputting or generating EPS.
Third, CorelDraw
1. The graph placed in CorelDraw, if rotated, may output fragmentation or image defects.
2. Objects that have been selected for overprinting will be imprinted.
3. When there are Chinese full-width spaces (double the size of normal spaces) in the text, the output error must be replaced with a half-width space.
4. Sometimes when Chinese characters are selected in the English font, the display is gone, and an error occurs during the output.
5. Fine art text can generally change curves, with little change. Text words cannot be converted directly to curves. When text fonts are converted to art texts, some characteristics of textual texts will disappear, making the text styles change greatly.
6. The virtual image created directly in CorelDraw8.0 cannot be output correctly. Please use 9.0 to make it.
Well, we can generally understand some of the problems that may be encountered in mainstream graphic design software. However, the problems in the production process may continue to emerge and emerge in endlessly. This requires us all to discuss and solve the problem with patience and patience. We hope that we can learn together and do a good job in prepress work.
